There he is!!!!!
Entertainment for us while he was checking the technology situation :-)
But once we got a good connection, we had such a great visit! It was so good to hear his voice! We've seen lots of pictures of him these past few months, but we sure missed hearing his voice! (he has kind of a funny weird American, Aussie accent :) :)
Dalton is doing really well, he is loving his mission overall and has learned so much about himself and the gospel as he's been serving.
We were able to introduce Dalton to his brand new nephew, Patrick and that was so cool. (he kept waving to his 2 nephews)
"Hi Patrick" (I have him right up to the camera nice and close so Dalton could see him really well)
We got to meet his companion Elder Delahunty who he has gotten really close to.
We learned that he sprained his ankle playing "footy" with his ward.
We learned that there are 6 missionaries that serve the ward, so they have to really coordinate with each other so they aren't in the same areas at the same time.
We learned that Elder Delahunty gives Dalton his haircuts and does a pretty good job, but when Dalton gave Elder Delahunty a haircut they had to go to the barber to get it fixed. We asked Dalton if he paid to have Elder Delahunty's hair fixed and he said "no" you cheap "o"
We learned that most of the members are islanders(from Tonga or Samoa) in his ward.
We learned that a jacket(hoody) is called a "jumper."
We learned that him and Elder Delahunty get to drive the car this transfer.
We learned that his mission president let's the elders wear Chinos, which are a type of pants that are more comfortable for the hot weather there.
We learned that the mission president also lets the elders wear crazy socks and that there is a store in the mall that they go to occasionally and they always want to buy new socks!
We learned that his big suitcase is in Tonga, probably never to be seen again. lol (He gave it to an elder who needed it to go home)
We learned the ward members have them over for "feeds" (dinner) 2-3 nights a week.
We learned that the ward members randomly drop off "Maca's" (McDondald's) and KFC to them quite often.
We learned that we need to pray extra hard for them to find people to teach.
We learned that we need to pray extra hard when they find people to teach that they will want to be converted to this amazing gospel.
But above all, we learned he is absolutely loving serving his mission. He shared how it's been the hardest thing he has ever done but that his testimony and love of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the gospel have grown immensely. He shared his testimony with us and we had a family prayer together which was just the best!
